Chronic Pain (Acupuncture, CBT, Craniosacral Therapy)

Pain is something that a huge amount of people suffer with every day, every day people walk into the Wellbeing Clinic Nottingham in pain whether it is emotional or physical or both. Most of all they just want it to stop they want us to take the pain away for them.

Anyone who is or has been in chronic pain will know how debilitating being in constant pain can be leaving you tired and having to deal with feelings of anger and resentment and isolation, other side effects can include stress, muscle tension, insomnia, depression and fatigue. Long term pain can originate from anything but some of the most common include back pain, arthritis, IBS or fibromyalgia. For some people the cause of their pain may not be known and this can lead to distress in it's self.

Pain has both a psychological and physiological component, the mindhas a large role to play in chronic pain management. Your mind can help you to control your pain and greatly relieve your suffering. (This does not mean that all the pain you are feeling is in your head.) Although pain has a mechanistic cause it is not the whole picture pain can be very complex and is influence by your emotions and thoughts leading to different levels of suffering. For example if we are totally engaged in an activity often our pain levels will not feel so bad.

Complementary therapy may be a good way to manage chronic pain, many people benefit from one or a combination of therapies that address the needs of the mind and the body. At the Wellbeing Clinic these can include:

Acupuncture and back pain has been in the news a lot recently

Massage of all descriptions helps to relax the body and aids in the reduction of stress and an increased sense of wellbeing.

Craniosacral therapy can help te rebalance the body and create an increased sense of self awareness and wellbeing.

Chiropractic is a good way to deal with muscular skeletal problems.

Cognitive behavioural therapy is a good way  to deal with the emotional aspects of pain and pain management.
