Do you put up with painful periods? (reflexology / craniosacral therapy can help)

" A woman is the most reliable expert in her own health care" Dr Carolyn De Marco

It seems that more and more women are putting up with menstrual problems ranging from the minor to the severe. But here at the wellbeing clinic we don't believe that this needs to be the case.

Do you suffer from painful periods?

Is you cycle irregular?

Do you suffer from heavy periods?

Cramping, lower abdominal pain, dragging sensation in the pelvis, nausea, vomiting, sweating, dizziness and loose stools.

It is estimated that in the Uk as many as 74% of women of child-bearing age put up with some form of menstrual tension that can cause a lack of co-ordination. As many as 30-40% of women suffer from pre-menstrual tension some of these suffer with very severe symptoms. Many women between the ages of 25- 39 years old suffer from a lack of energy and painful periods.

If you have this problem you are often left feeling that you are not taken seriouslythat it is only a "woman's problem". Many women feel that there only options are pain killers or the pill or in the worst case senarioa hysterectomy. It is important to getto the root cause of painful periods getting them investigated by a health professional to check there is no infection or fibroids or endometriosis. In our experience at the Wellbeing Clinic there are a lot of contributing factors to painful periods including.

Stress

Poor diet

Being overweight

Nutritional deficiencies

Hypothyroidism

Candida

Environmental toxicity

Depression

Blood sugar imbalances

All of these can be greatly helped with the use of a number of complementary therapies from reflexology which is a fantasticway to balance the hormones and decrease stress levels. Craniosacral therapy is a light tough therapy that can positively influence highly sensitive hormonal glands. Acupuncture is a great way to address hormonal imbalances and decrease stress levels. Often women need to feel that they are having a positive influence on their health and complementary therapy can be a very effective way to regain control of your body and start to improve your health and wellbeing.
