Craniosacral Therapy and Babies

I love Thursdays at the Wellbeing Clinic, why I hear you ask. Because it is baby day we get lots of young babies in to see our craniosacral therapist Philip Humphreys and all the staff get to ohh and ahh a lot.
As a new parent it is natural to worry if your baby does not seem to be thriving or is having some problems and of course all babies cry sometimes. Babies cryif they are feeling irritable but sometimes no matter what you try to do to ease their discomfort nothing seems to help. Craniosacral therapy works well if the baby is struggling with colicky symptoms, or they are constantly irritable are crying for what seems like no reason, if they are having trouble with bowel movements or it was a traumatic birth. Craniosacral Therapy is a safe and natural way to help your baby settle down by adjusting the rhythmic tide that flows in the body, helping them to feel much calmer and settled. Babies are treated either in the mothers arms or laid on a treatment couch, with the parent as close as possible. Normally the therapist will start by placing a hand on the child's head and sacrum (the tail bone). The treatment is very gentle and in no way distress the child. A session may last between 1/2 an hour and 3/4 of a hour. Generally the babies enjoy the sessions either falling asleep or becoming very relaxed.

As one of our clients can testify,

"I brought Hannah to see Philip the Craniosacral Therapist after she was suffering from gastric reflux. Philip performed Craniosacral Therapy and he was so gentle. After the treatment Hannah was a different baby, the reflux was much reduced and her temperament changed and she is a happy smiley baby. Thank you"
